We have been informed by a reliable source that His Majesty King George Tupou V passed away in Hong Kong late today.
We had earlier reported that King George Tupou V passed away in Sydney, but it has now been confirmed that it was Hong Kong, and the Crown Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka was there at the hospital just before the king passed away.
This news has yet to be officially confirmed but we understand that the king was rushed to hospital early this afternoon and that he passed away a few hours later.
