この信号は地球から約95光年離れた恒星「HD164595」の方向から届いたとされる。この星は少なくとも1つの惑星を持つことが知られており、惑星の数はもっと多い可能性もある。

HD 164595 is a G-type star located in the constellation of Hercules, 28.927 parsecs, (about 94.4 light-years) from Earth. With an apparent magnitude of 7.075, the star can be found with binoculars or a low-power telescope by reference to nearby Vega in the constellation Lyra.
HD 164595 has one planet; HD 164595 b, although other terrestrial planets are possible. HD 164595 b is a confirmed exoplanet orbiting around HD 164595 every 40 days. It has a mass equivalent to 16 Earths.
